What we do for you

We operate as an IDNO, an independent electricity network provider, ensuring your home receives power through our cable network.

Advanced Electricity Networks Limited is regulated by Ofgem to manage electricity networks across the country.
You pay your energy supplier for your electricity, and you can switch suppliers whenever you wish. Whatever your choice, we’ll always deliver power to your home securely and reliably.

Are we your network operator?

Need some extra help?

We understand that some customers depend on electricity more than others, so we offer a Priority Services Register (PSR) to ensure vulnerable customers receive advance notice of any planned outages.

Power cuts are rare, but if you are ever without power, you can report it to us by calling 105 or 01376 312520.

Before you contact us, check to see whether your neighbours have electricity or if the streetlights are on.

If the streetlights are on and your neighbors have power, check your trip switch. If the switch continues to trip, check your appliances.

If your switch will not reset, there may be a problem with your internal wiring and you will need to contact a registered electrician.

While your electricity is off, you can…
  • Leave a light on so you know when the power comes back on
  • Keep your fridge and freezer shut – a closed fridge will keep food cold for about four hours and the contents of a freezer can stay frozen for up to 12 hours
  • Turn off and unplug any appliances that get hot, such as heaters or kettles, in case you forget they are switched on when the power comes back on
  • Limit using your phone, tablet and laptop to save the battery life
  • Unplug any sensitive equipment, such as TVs, computers and solar panels

We maintain a Priority Services Register to provide extra support for those who need it most.

You can join our free PSR if you or someone in your household:

– are blind or partially sighted
– are deaf or have hearing loss
– are over 65
– have a child under 5
– are disabled or chronically sick
– have a long-term physical or mental health condition
– depend on electricity for medical equipment
– have extra language or communication needs
